The Federal Practice Group Worldwide Service is pleased to announce Isabel
Cottrell is the newest Associate to join the firm’s ever growing
Federal Employment Law Group. Ms. Cottrell is fluent in both English and
Spanish and has substantive experience in federal employment law. She
will provide representation for her clients by pursuing claims of discrimination
at the EEOC and defending her clients against disciplinary and adverse actions.
Prior to joining The Federal Practice Group, Ms. Cottrell worked for two
other prestigious Washington, D.C. law firms that focused on federal employment.
In her first position out of law school, Ms. Cottrell began as a law clerk
before being elevated to associate and served as an associate for two
years at her second firm.
“We were looking to expand our federal employment practice group
and we were happy about the talented candidate pool from which we had
to select,” said Federal Practice Group Founding Partner Debra D’Agostino.
“However, Isabel’s legal skills stood out immediately and
separated her from the group. We found her reputation with both clients
and attorneys to be stellar and we are very pleased she joined us.”
While pursing her juris doctorate Ms. Cottrell put her Spanish-speaking
skills to great use when she served an internship at the National Center
for Refugee & Immigrant Children. Other internships include a term
at the New York State Supreme Court where she worked for Justice Ling-Cohan.
She also served as a student representative for the Unemployment Action
Center in Manhattan.
Ms. Cottrell received her Bachelor of Arts from Sewanee: The University
of the South. She earned her juris doctorate at New York Law School.
