Army Criminal Investigation Command
The Unites States Army Criminal Investigation Command or CID is different
from a command investigation. The CID is a separate division for the investigations
of serious crimes such as felony crimes like murder, rape and arson. They
specifically follow the Uniform Military Code and have the power to investigate
civilians as well. This division works similarly to the Command Investigations
because it does not have legal jurisdiction but rather investigative power.
The CID will make recommendations on its findings to the appropriate legal
authority. While CI handles cases that are not considered "major"
the CID can handle very serious criminal offenses. You should speak with
a military criminal defense attorney immediately if you are aware that
you are the subject of a CID investigation. Depending on the findings
and conclusions of the CID you may find yourself in court or discharged.
Contact a military criminal lawyer before that happens, and get the counsel you need.
