The Federal Practice Group Worldwide Service represents, defends, and protects government contractors who are the subject of investigations. Our government contracts attorneys are experienced in navigating clients through investigations conducted by an agency Inspector General (IG), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR). Issues raised in such investigations may include the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), the Procurement Integrity Act, defective pricing, federal and state False Claims Act and qui tam actions, cost accounting and pricing, and general allegations of fraud. When a client is faced with an external investigation, our attorneys conduct a fact-finding analysis and provide the client with case-specific, effective plans of action. Our extensive experience allows us to effectively communicate and coordinate with investigators while protecting our client’s interests. Our government contracts attorneys regularly collaborate with attorneys from our white collar criminal defense practice to offer our clients comprehensive representation.
We also conduct internal investigations when a contractor identifies potential liability, often through the creation and implementation of compliance programs. This early review and detection allows our clients time to analyze the problem internally and, when necessary, submit a mandatory disclosure that allows the contractor to correct its error and make the government whole again, while avoiding further repercussions or liability.
