Founding Partner Eric S. Montalvo retired after 21 years of honorable active duty service from the United
States Marine Corps as a "Mustang" Major and JAG officer, having
served his country in three wars. He has earned an international reputation
as an aggressive, thorough and respected trial attorney familiar with
the overwhelming nature of complex litigation and associated media strategies.
He practices in the areas of white-collar and federal criminal defense,
including military defense; international business law including oil and
gas law, investment-based immigration and international government contracting;
and U.S. federal government claims, including contracting claims.
Mr. Montalvo’s service in the United States Marine Corps included
duties as both a military prosecutor and defense counsel where he has
and continues to litigate high stakes cases. Additionally, he previously
served as Special Assistant to the U.S. Attorney at Parris Island, representing
the U.S. Department of Justice in criminal proceedings before the United
States District Court for the District of South Carolina. His work on
high-profile cases and his penetrating insight into the military’s
failure to care for its veterans has been featured in various news media
including the New York Times, Washington Post, Rolling Stone, GQ, NPR,
and RT. His work has also been the subject of numerous documentaries including
“The Kill Team,” an award-winning documentary directed by
Academy-Award nominated Dan Krauss.
Founding Partner Debra A. D’Agostino is a civil rights champion, having fought to protect the rights of scores
of federal employees who were wrongly accused or disciplined in their jobs.
Ms. D’Agostino began her legal career by representing federal employees
worldwide in personnel matters involving federal agencies, and replying
to proposed adverse actions or disciplinary actions. She has more than
15 years of experience in these areas, including before the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB),
and the Office of Special Counsel (OSC). Additionally, Ms. D’Agostino
handles appeals before the EEOC’s Office of Federal Operations,
the MSPB’s full Board, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal
and D.C. Circuits. Ms. D’Agostino has also successfully resolved
hundreds of claims on behalf of her clients through mediation or Alternative
Dispute Resolution. Ms. D’Agostino’s clients include several
high profile civil servants, including several in the intelligence and
law enforcement communities.
Debra D’Agostino earned her Juris Doctorate with honors from the
George Washington University Law School. She also served several clerkships,
including with U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer and with NARAL Pro-Choice
